Our history goes back over 200 years. Over this time there have been many notable members, including Robert Burns, the Earl of Elgin, and our Immediate Past First Grand Principal Dr Joe Morrow, The Lord Lyon King of Arms.
And while we are rightly proud of our history, we are committed to the future of our organisation.
Our headquarters are in Edinburgh, but our membership extends throughout Scotland and beyond to Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Caribbean.
Freemasonry is one of the oldest organisations in the world, and our central values are Integrity, Respect, Friendship and Charity.
At SGRAC, our membership comprises people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and we are focused on inclusion and diversity. We welcome people irrespective of race, religion or political beliefs, and we promote good relations both within and outside of our organisation, at home and abroad.
A focus on kindness and giving is very much ingrained in our principles, and we are committed to supporting good causes through charitable works and promoting our organisation’s participation in local communities and civic life.
We have respect for our traditions, with special focus on the message of rebuilding conveyed in our ceremonies. Finally, we put a strong focus on renewal. We want to do things in new ways to emerge as a better and stronger organisation.
